My Story

CECILIA DEME, PH.D

The road to unfold my human potential was a steady and non-linear process, and all my formal and informal education and training, cultural experiences, languages I learnt and the invaluable interactions with people from different countries, nationalities, having different mindsets and values contributed to the development of the human being and professional I am today.

THE CONDUCTOR

Coming from the Babes-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca, I spent 17 years in the formal and non-formal education sector, teaching Social Sciences and Public Administration, being active in civic, peace and human rights education.

During these years, I helped and supported thousands of youths, educators, teachers and civil servants in pursuing their education, community engagement, career development, through workshops, training and civic participation activities.

THE COMPOSER

I participated in the Romanian National Education Reform, by entering into the USA State Department “Romanian Civic Education Curriculum Development Program”, implemented with the help and support of the Romanian Ministry of Education, the USA Embassy in Bucharest and the Institute for Training and Development from Amherst, MA, USA. I received my accreditation as a Civic Education Trainer of Trainers from the Romanian Ministry of Education, and the Award of Excellence from the Romanian Human Rights Institute, for the Civic Education Student Handbook published with other colleagues.

THE ARCHITECT

I became one of the founding members and the Regional Director of the Romanian Civic Education Association and established the Association for Education in Democracy and Human Rights.

I set up a Civic Education Library, designed and implemented youth projects, facilitated training events and workshops, organized Student Government Elections and led students groups in their community service learning journey.

THE EXPLORER

I started my journey in international development in 2010, with the desire of protecting human rights in conflict and post-conflict countries. I worked for the United Nations, OSCE and INGO’s in sometimes hard and difficult conditions, like in the Middle East, Nepal, South Sudan, Ukraine, Togo, Liberia, but at the same time being immersed in different spaces and surrounded by inspirational and resourceful people and organizations. Over these years I have had the privilege of supporting hundreds of youths, female leaders, human rights defenders, community groups, IDP‘s and organizations by empowering them with knowledge, tools and the desire to change and create a positive lasting impact in their life and community.

SOCIAL IMPACT CHANGEMAKER, MENTOR AND COACH

At present, besides consulting EVOLVED MINDS all over the world, and coaching and mentoring development and humanitarian professionals, I am a Visiting Professor at Corvinus University in Hungary. I became an informal leader of something which always challenged me and stimulated me with a rather abstract motivation – People. I think about myself as a changemaker who creates new ways of doing old things; to look at places no one would look at; to improve plans in which many had no faith. This is why I promote awareness about local and global aspects of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals and support recently graduated or mid-career professionals to decide about their future. In the end, my conviction is that we, as humanity, are the storybook and the storytellers, and our future depends on how we write and redefine our present.

HOW DO I MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Wherever I worked, individually or part of a team, my experience showed me that the biggest impact one can have in leveraging change is the transformation happening at personal and team level. This is why I enjoy working with people and groups who recognize they need to be perseverant and innovative to change themselves and others.

INDIVIDUAL GROWTH

After finishing your mentoring or coaching sessions, you will feel energized, inspired, and equipped with those specific professional competencies which will increase your abilities to innovate, confront challenges and pursue the desired change in your professional and personal life, organization or community.

CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT

My strategy and methodology when working with individuals and organizations are to combine your unique mix of mindset, strengths, and opportunities for growth, by putting you or your team in the center of the solution, tailored to your needs. You have the opportunity to engage and grow with an EvolvED Mind-ed professional with more than 25 years of work experience, incorporating international fieldwork perspectives from Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Latin-America, and Europe.

DELIVERABLES

You will walk away with ready to use strategies, technical knowledge, practical outcomes and know-how applicable in your professional life and at your workplace.

The deliverables – curriculum design, training materials, strategic documents, monitoring and evaluation reports – will incorporate innovative approaches and adapted to your beneficiaries’ and organizational needs.
